About Our Cemetery:

Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia was established in 1922 on land previously known as the Myrtle Grove Plantation, an estate once owned by John Carter. He and his family members have grave markers still intact on the grounds. Other notable gravesites include sculptor Frederick William Sievers (1872-1966), UMC bishop Carl Julian Sanders (1912-2007), and civil rights attorney Oliver White Hill Sr. (1907-2007).

Forest Lawn also features the Emek Sholom Holocaust Memorial, one of the first memorials erected in the United States to victims of the Holocaust (1955).

Losing my Uncle was really hard for my family. The fact that Forest Lawn did so well in making sure our needs were met help us out a lot. Ms. Angela especially. We called on her for almost everything and she was always there promptly and professionally. I really appreciate the manner of how my uncle was buried and will definitely work with Forest Lawn in the future. Thank you again!

We buried my father-in-law yesterday.. Fortunately everything was prearranged and paid for in advance. The office promptly contacted us and everything was handled very nicely. My husband, myself and brother-in-law have plots there and all prearranged. My father is in the mausoleum and, my mother will be placed there when the time comes. Thanks to the staff for all your help during this difficult time.
